I have done both the MBAs while working. My first MBA from IMT was a a three year part-time course and the other was a one and a half years part time Executive programe in International busniness from IIFT.
Both the MBAs I done were complementing the job I was into. I did my first MBA when I was working as a deputy manager business development. This job involved business analysis of the company's existing businesses and also of the unrelated areas. This involved a lot of number crunchig knowledge while making feasibility studies and market research knowledge for making projections. Second MBA was done during my present job where I am working as an advisor to the Norwegian Embassy in India. My job involves advising Norwegian companies on business prospects in India. A knowledge in international business added value in my day to day functioning.
Besides complementing feature of the MBA to my job, I was also eager to learn new tools and methods that are there since I had passed out from my previous MBA. I think a regular updation to ones knowledge through structured course is required after every 3-5 years to know the latest. This could be a refreseher course or a training from the company's side, may be a 3-6 months course.
